ANDY Wicks has stepped up to the Malmesbury Victoria managerial hot seat following Kevin Bridgeman’s departure from the game.

Bridgeman is relocating to Manchester due to work commitments and oversaw the Vics for the final time on Saturday, which saw them beaten 5-1 at Sholing in the FA Vase second round.

Wicks, who previously served as Bridgeman’s assistant at the Flying Monk Ground, will lead Malmesbury for the first time tonight when they host Easington Sports in the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup.

Kyle Witt was the Vics’ marksmen at Sholing on Saturday, but it proved only a consolation as the Division One West outfit were already 4-0 in arrears at the break.

Elsewhere in the Hellenic League, Royal Wootton Bassett Town claimed three points from a possible six in the Premier Division.

Sam Collier’s side were 3-2 winners at home to Abingdon United on Saturday but went down 4-3 at Reading City on Monday night.

Matt Bennett struck twice on Saturday, with TJ Bohane also on target. Both players also hit the back of the net at Reading, with Salhin Abubaker Bassett’s other goal scorer.

In Division One West, Josh Fowler, Connor Marsden and Ryan Thomas fired Pewsey Vale to a 3-1 win at Tytherington Rocks on Saturday.
