MIDFIELDER Toumani Diagouraga says he and his Swindon Town comrades are all looking for a solution to their goalscoring woes.

In the wake of Swindon’s 0-0 draw with Mansfield Town at the Energy Check County Ground on Saturday, Phil Brown’s side have only scored once in their last five league games.

There are growing concerns surrounding their form in front of goal, especially as they scored 10 times in the first month of the season.

This evening, Cambridge United make their way to Wiltshire to face Brown’s side, and following their disappointing stalemate at the weekend, Diagouraga says he and his team-mates are keen to put that right.

The U’s go into the game on the back of a good point away to league leaders Lincoln City, but have otherwise been unimpressive, with just two wins so far this season.

While the goals may not be as free flowing as they were at the start of the League Two campaign, the combative midfielder thinks he has seen enough to believes goals are on their way.

Diagouraga highlighted the need to find balance between both attacking and defensive play, saying that it is a hard relationship to perfect.

Having been at both ends of the spectrum since the start of the season, the 31-year-old is keen to find the middle ground.

“You can always compare, but at the start of the season, we were conceding a lot of goals so we just need to find the right balance,” he said.

“Small changes make a big difference.

“We have been getting a lot of chances and once the first one goes in, then the shackles will be off.

“We are under pressure to win every game and we want to win every game. To me, it doesn’t matter who we are playing against.

“It is a league where anyone can beat anyone, and if we don’t start turning up, we will be in trouble, but I am sure we will start to soon.

“Cambridge drew 1-1 with Lincoln so anything could happen.”

In a bid to reinvigorate the team’s forward line, Diagouraga says the club have been holding meetings in order to increase their scoring return.

So far, their methods are yet to have the desired impact on Swindon’s fortunes.

Former Brentford man Diagouraga believes once the club has a change in fortunes, they will be firing on all cylinders and become a force to be reckoned with.

“We are all trying to figure out the right answer to why we aren’t scoring goals,” added Diagouraga, who says there will always be room for improvement, not just in the final third.

“We keep having meetings but we want to make sure we start scoring again.

“The finishing is very good in training and we have very good finishers in the team.

“It’s just that at the moment, we aren’t getting the rub of the green.

“I’m sure that will change.

“There is more work to be done, full stop. Whether that is creating chances or not, but as a team, we want to be better.

“I want to do my best for the team whether that is defending or creating. We all have a part to play and I’m trying to do that.

“We are all trying, we just aren’t getting the luck at the moment.

“It is a long season so I’m sure it will turn around.”
