WROUGHTON missed the chance to climb to the top of the Wiltshire League Premier Division table after they had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Corsham Town Reserves.

With leaders Melksham Town Reserves in Knockout Cup action, victory would have sent Wroughton to the summit, but they had to settle for a single point to remain one behind the early pace-setters.

Shrewton United made it a three-way tie for second place – with Kintbury Rangers also in the chasing group – following a 10-0 thrashing of Devizes Town Reserves.

Charlie Utterson led the charge with four goals, Craig Lewis and Charlie Jackson got two each, while Jesse Walters and Craig Appleby also hit the back of the net.

Devan Bryan struck twice for Cricklade Town as they claimed a 4-2 success at home to Westbury United Reserves.

Tom McCulloch and Billy Sly were also on target as Derek Wheeler registered both of Westbury’s replies.

The final league contest ended in a 3-3 draw as Marlborough Town hosted Pewsey Vale Development.

Two goals from Harrison Lowe put Pewsey 2-0 up at half-time but Marlborough rallied after the restart and efforts from Christopher Deane, Luke Connolly and an Aaron Presley penalty turned the game on its head.

Pewsey were not to be denied, though, and Corey Cullen’s last-minute equaliser earned a share of the spoils.

League leaders Melksham moved into the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup with a 2-0 win at Ludgershall Sports courtesy of a Shaun Bennison strike and an own goal.

They will meet now reigning league champions Kintbury after they won 3-1 at Trowbridge Town.

Tom Mahoney, Shaun Thorp and Chris Cox got the goals for Kintbury as Jordan Gullis replied.

Chris Avery got both goals as Purton also earned cup progress with a 2-0 victory at home to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves.
