MELKSHAM Town face a repeat of last season’s FA Vase quarter final when squaring up to Thatcham Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

Melksham are one of 144 clubs from steps three to four still in the competition as Wembley Stadium hosted the draw for the opening round.

Kieran Baggs’ side booked their spot after coming from behind to defeat Slimbridge at the weekend – Neikell Plummer’s late strike securing Melksham a spot in the first-round hat.

The competition’s next phase will see 72 ties take place on Saturday, October 27.

Winning clubs at this stage will receive £3,250 from the competition’s prize fund.

Meanwhile Malmesbury Victoria were also in the hat at Wembley as the draw for the second round of the FA Vase was made.

Having defeated Roman Glass St George on Saturday, Kevin Bridgeman’s men will now travel to Sholing, Southampton, on Saturday, November 3.

A win for Victoria will net the club a handy £900 sum and a spot in the competition’s third round.

Bradford Town are also in FA Vase action, Wayne Thorne’s will travel to face Brockenhurst.
