BRADFORD Town have appointed for Melksham Town and Larkhall Athletic boss Wayne Thorne as their new manager.

Thorne, who was most recently the boss of Mangotsfield Town, steps in at Trowbridge Road following the exit of Rob Mallett, who parted company with Town recently after a run of poor results.

The 38 year old guided Larkhall to promotion from the Western League in 2013/14 and in their first season at Southern League level, took them to the play-offs before leaving in October 2016 and taking over at Mangotsfield in September 2017.

Thorne, who survived a car crash in 2013 that left him in an induced coma, enjoyed a playing career as a defender that included spells at Swindon Town, Gloucester City, Chippenham Town, Clevedon Town and Weston-super-Mare.

A Bradford statement said: "The club are pleased to announce that Wayne Thorne will be the new first team Manager at Trowbridge Road.

"He will be joined by Pete Maddison as assistant manager.

"We welcome them both warmly to the club and Wayne will take command of the team for the away match at Wellington.''
