CHIPPENHAM Town manager Mark Collier says the club’s focus must be their weekend clash with Dartford despite being just one win away from the FA Cup First Round Proper.

A strong home showing saw the Bluebirds beat Hendon as Nat Jarvis and George Rigg scored, in addition to Nick McCootie’s brace.

Collier’s side will now host Maidenhead United in the Fourth Qualifying round on Saturday, October 20.

And while many have began dreaming about further FA Cup spoils, the Chippenham manager says his players must keep their eye on the ball this weekend against Dartford.

“It was a confident performance, it was pleasing to score four at home with a team where we are six or seven light of where we want to be squad wise,” he said.

“It was a good night for Chippenham that’s for sure. Strength in depth came through for us.

“Everyone was talking about Maidenhead after the game on Wednesday but our focus has to be on Dartford.

“That is the way it has to be. I went and watched them against Oxford City so we know what they are all about.

“We can put the cup to bed. We have got a little bit of cash which has pleased the chairman and the directors but that Maidenhead game will take care of itself when it comes around.”

The National League South side also announced the arrival of Swindon Town youngster Jordan Edwards earlier this week.

Edwards made his debut for the League Two side in their win over Accrington Stanley at the end of last season, has agreed three-month loan deal.

Collier explains it is a timely boost with Will Puddy, Greg Tindle, Dean Evans, Jack Compton all injured, while James Guthrie has one game left to serve on his suspension.

“We spoke about Jordan previously and I had a conversation with Phil Brown at the training ground a couple of weeks ago,” he said.

“”It was a case of waiting for our time. He has found himself down the pecking order a little bit with the experience and midfield numbers they’ve got.

“I had a chat with him and said to Jordan that the scenario is similar to that of Scott Twine, if we can help him and he can help us, then both of us win so the ball is in his court.

“He needs to force his way into the team and take it from there, but he’s shown a good attitude from the conversations we’ve had.”
