MINETY opened their home account in Dorset & Wilts One North with a 27-10 victory over Sutton Benger that kept them in touch with the top of the table.

The hosts launched waves of attacks in the opening stages but it was the visitors who registered first on the scoreboard with a try in the corner

Denied a try by a Benger hand soon afterwards, Minety broke their duck as full-back Duncan Simpson passed to scrum-half Sam Hughes, whose up and under kick was allowed to bounce, winger Ben Langridge taking advantage to go under the posts and fly-half Jack Ward converting.

Minety picked up the pressure again before half-time and number eight Ben Sellick picked up from a scrum to plough over.

Ward added a penalty early in the second half but Benger responded with their second try soon afterwards.

Minety were soon back on the board, Simpson fielding his own kick and sending Sellick in for his second and the bonus point was secured as Simpson again turned provider to send Jack Howse across the line, Ward adding the conversion.

Minety 2nd moved up to fifth in Dorset & Wilts Three North with a 39-7 success over Melksham 3rd, Dave White scoring a hat-trick of tries.
