DEVIZES shot up to second in Southern Counties South as they eased to a 38-7 triumph at newly-promoted Bradford on Avon, despite the sending-off of scrum-half John Bramwell.

A dominant pack performance laid the groundwork for victory with the forwards scoring the majority of the points.

Back row forwards Craig Bryant, Rhys Harries and Brian Hopkins bagged a try apiece and Alex Pattle continued his recent scoring streak with another touchdown.

Second row Lewis Paget completed the scoring in a dominating forward performance, while Martin Dickinson was rewarded with a debut try off the bench, Rory Brown adding four conversions before Bramwell was sent off late on.

Bradford responded with an Adam McBraida try, converted by Sam Jones.

Corsham slipped to their opening defeat of the campaign as they were turned over 29-12 by unbeaten Yeovil.

After both teams exchanged early penalty kicks Yeovil scored two tries, one converted to lead 15-3 at the break.

Corsham fought back with a well-worked try by Liam Snape, converted by Kalif Barnes, to reduce the deficit to 15-10.

But Yeovil responded though with two further tries before Adam Draper went over for a last-minute try, again converted by Barnes, for the away side.

Corsham head coach Tim Draper said: "It was a poor performance from us in many respects, particularly in the first half.

"We lifted our game in the second half and an early try put us back in the game but a number of errors from us led to them scoring two further tries to restore a comfortable lead.

"There were lessons to be learned on our part but all credit to Yeovil. They out-played us on the day and deserved to win.''
