THIS season is a little bit different compared to the rest of my time at Swindon Wildcats.

Over the summer, I moved back up to Nottingham and began training to be a teacher, so I live there for five days of the week and then come back to Swindon at the weekend.

I’m training to be a primary school teacher and I start in the classroom on Monday. I’m excited to get going because I have done a lot of theory at university recently.

I am still involved with the Wildcats like I was before, but more as an advisor now.

Travelling will be slightly different now, I’ll miss travelling with the team as much as I used to because it’s great for team bonding and getting the guys together.

But, we have that core of us now so we all get on really well. The team bus is good fun after a win but not so pleasant after a loss.

Becoming a teacher for Year Five is a new challenge and it obviously links with the job I was doing at the Cats, with their work in the community.

For that, I went into schools every day. Doing that has become second nature to me now, so it’s similar in that way.

The syllabus will be different but I am excited for it, I’m excited for a new trade and to do something new.

Last weekend's two games against Hull Pirates had positives and negatives for the team.

On Saturday, we were clinical, we put our chances away and the score line reflected that.

Then on Sunday, we let the game get away from us when we had the momentum.

Things happened on the ice which changed the flow, but at the end of the day, we have to be more consistent.

Renny Marr will be missing this weekend against Sheffield Steeldogs and he will be a big loss because he is our starting goalie.

Having said that, Tyler Perre is there as back-up and it is his job to step up now.

He’s a young lad and he is here to prove himself just like everyone else is, so it’ll be good to see him play.

It’s good to play the northern teams because we don’t play them very much. Sheffield are always good and they are very offensive so we know it’ll be a battle.
