WESTBURY United remain unbeaten in the Toolstation Premier League after recording their fifth win from as many games on Tuesday night when beating Shepton Mallet 3-1.

Tyson Pollard put Neil Kirkpatrick’s side behind in the early moments of United’s latest league fixture, but a Ricky Hulbert brace plus Callum Demkiv’s late strike secured another three points for Westbury.

The result means United sit third in the table behind Bridgwater Town and Willand Rovers with games in hand, leaving United in a positive position with a month of the season now played.

But with games against Odd Down, Willand Rovers and Plymouth Parkway ahead, Kirkpatrick admits his side cannot afford to rest on their laurels despite their strong start to the season.

He said: “If you look at our next block of fixtures anyone can see we have a tough run coming up.

“Odd Down is always a difficult place to play, then after that you probably don’t want to look at the fixtures.

“We’ve got all the big guns coming up, but I’d rather be where we are right now. We want to establish ourselves this season in the division and upset a few of the bigger teams.

“Hopefully we can pinch a result of two along the way.”

While Kirkpatrick missed Tuesday night’s fixture, the joint Westbury boss was informed his men made their most positive start to a game of the season against Shepton before conceding to Pollard’s strike.

“Shepton had a spell too and it was nip and tuck going into half time. But in the second half we were outstanding,” said Kirkpatrick.

“After a good win at the weekend we asked the lads to really concentrate on earning three points in mid-week, and that can sometimes be difficult.

“When we played Shepton at home I thought they were a really good side and believe we did well to beat them.

“I know they’ve only won one game so far, but they have a good squad and will win.

“We had players missing, that highlights the strength of our squad.”
