THREE members of Marlborough & District Junior Athletics were among those recognised at the club’s annual prize giving held at Marlborough Rugby Club last weekend.
For the first time in many years, MADJA had three athletes selected to represent Wiltshire at the English Schools’ Track & Field Championships and the successful trio - Phe Phe Pye (U15s 300m), Thomas Holmes (U17s javelin), Charlie Curry (U20s 100m) – were rewarded with their age group champion trophies presented by club patron David Hemery CBE.
Other standout performances recognised this year included the U11 girls’ champion Evie Hallsworth, who consistently featured in the podium placing at Wessex League events throughout the summer.
Also, Catriona Edington (U20s) successfully stepped up to a new specialism in race walking this season (in addition to the 1500m steeplechase) and is set to represent Wiltshire at the ESAA combined events and race walking champs at Bedford this weekend (Sept 14-15).
Also at Bedford will be new MADJA Club champion athlete, Wiltshire decathlete Kieran Short.
