WILTSHIRE'S hopes of a third successive Unicorns Championship Western Division victory to end the summer were foiled as Oxfordshire delivered a superb batting performance to claim a two-wicket triumph at Marlborough
Set 314 to win as they started their second innings on the final day of three, the visitors reached 315-8 to dash Wiltshire's hopes of continuing their recent improvement.
Led by Matthew Warner (67), Harry Smith (55) and Owyn Tong-Jones (51), Oxfordshire signed off with a thrilling run chase which took them to their fifth straight win and secured second place in the division, 23 points behind Berkshire, the only side to beat them.
Further contributions from Gareth Andrew (45) and Thame Town wicketkeeper Callum Russell (45 not out) wrapped up the result for the away side, Wiltshire finishing sixth in the final table.
