DEVIZES Town manager Darran Walters enters Saturday’s FA Vase clash against Warminster full of confidence in his side’s ability following a convincing two-goal league win against Chippenham Park on Tuesday.

Goals from Jack Hopper and Joshua Brigham promoted Devizes up to third in the Toolstation League First Division after three wins from four games.

Town physically dictated Tuesday's fixture and Walters admits the win rarely looked in doubt from his viewpoint.

He said: “It was a good and solid performance from ourselves.

“Chippenham Park aren’t the usual side that we would play in our league, they like to play a lot of football.

“But physically we dominated the game and took our chances when they came. We looked comfortable all night.

“The win has put us in a good place in the league table.

“If someone had said we’d be third after a month, we would have taken that.

"We’ve had two good away wins and backed it up with the home win on Tuesday.”

The win has further boosted a confident Devizes side ahead of their Vase contest at home to Warminster on Saturday (3pm).

With a full-strength squad available at his disposal, Walters admits keeping everyone in the team happy is proving a difficult challenge, though he appreciates his position is one most managers would be pleased to find themselves in.

“We’ve got a full-strength squad at the moment, the biggest problem I’ve got is keeping them all happy with game time,” said Walters.

“Local derbies are always pretty tasty, but we’re going into the game full on confidence and hopeful of a positive result.

“Confidence is good at the moment, and winning breeds that. We’re playing well also, which obviously helps.”

Corsham Town’s rampant start to the new season continued when they defeated Bishops Lydeard 5-0 away from home on Saturday.

Ben Pring scored twice, with Josh Bright, Lewis McCarron and Zach Costello also on target.

Malmesbury Victoria were also in winning form at the weekend, beating Tytherington Rocks 13-0 at home in Hellenic League Division One West.

Andy Baker led the charge with four goals, while Shane Bumphrey got a hat-trick as Vics led 7-0 at half-time.

Sam Parker and Kyle Witt both bagged braces, while the scoring was completed by singles for Scott Reynolds and Joseph Tranter.
