LEE Davidson fired Melksham Town into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup after getting the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at home to Blackfield & Langley in the preliminary round on Saturday.

The victory was a fourth in four games this season for Kieran Baggs’ side, who are back in Southern League Division One South action on Bank Holiday Monday when they host Larkhall Athletic, Davidson netting from the penalty spot after Gary Higdon had missed from 12 yards in the first half.

Westbury United also made progress in the cup with a 3-0 win at home to Saltash United.

Dan Kovacs, Francois Allen and Josh Ferguson were all on target for Westbury at Meadow Lane.
