A RISING star in the equestrian world ensured international success continued to another generation in her family after she scooped team gold at the Scottish Home Pony International.

Emily Irvine, aged nine, competed for England at the international event in Edinburgh last weekend – helping her country secure gold over other competing nations.

Her efforts will come as little surprise to some given her family’s rich form of competing at international level.

Irvine’s aunty has played netball for England while her uncle, Ivan Lewis, swims for England.

The Foxley-based youngster, who attends Sherston Primary School, was selected to jump a third round after multiple nations were tied following a series of clear rounds.

Irvine held her nerve and proved the only rider to jump a triple clear onboard Craig Scott’s Bunbury Conquest.

Her efforts consequently clinched gold for England in dramatic circumstances.
