POULSHOT teenager Amelia Bissett has won the first ITF (International Tennis Federation) title of her career.
The 14-year-old beat number one seed Ekaterina Shalimova of Russia 6-2, 6-3 at the Vierumäki Dunlop Junior Cup in Finland.
A pupil at Ralph Allen School in Bath and coached by coached by Eve Hughes and Craig Procter at Team Bath's High Performance Centre, Bissett was in outstanding form all week and raced through the opening rounds before recovering from losing the first set of her semi-final to beat Estonia’s Lissi Kubre 5-7, 7-6(5), 6-0.
The Wiltshire player then teamed up with Millie Cross to dominate the women’s doubles competition.
They dropped just one set on the way to the final, where a 6-2, 6-1 win over Russia’s Alisa Budanova and Ella Haavisto of Finland secured more silverware.
