URCHFONT Paralympic athlete Polly Maton has been selected in Great Britain's 49-strong team for the IPC World Para Athletics Championships in London next month.

Maton, who trains at the University of Bath's Sports Training Village, joins fellow Bath-based athletes Paul Blake and Sophie Kamlish in the British party for the championships, which take place from July 14-23.

The trio, who train at the Sports Training Village, are no strangers to the international stage having all competed at the Rio 2016 Paralylmpic Games, where Blake struck gold in the T36 400m and silver in the 800m.

Dauntsey's School pupil Maton, coached by Colin Baross, will compete in her second World Championships having made her debut in 2015, just a couple of years after being spotted at a talent identification event.

The 17-year-old, who competes in the T47 100m and long jump, was recently presented with an Honorary Blue by University of Bath Director of Sport Stephen Baddeley to recognise her Paralympic Games debut at Rio 2016.
