CHIPPENHAM Moonrakers’ gymnast Millie Strange has claimed a silver medal at the British Women’s Artistic Disability Championships, having only taken up the sport three years ago.
The 15-year-old delivered a fine performance across the vault, asymmetric bars, balance beam and floor exercise in the Junior Category A division as gymnasts from across the home nations took part.
Strange took up the sport in 2013, having recovered from major surgery on her lower leg which confined her to a wheelchair, followed by a significant period on crutches.
Moonrakers head coach Steven West said: “Despite being very nervous, Millie was so positive – she totally deserved the silver medal. Her bar routine in particular was the best I have ever seen from her.’’
