MEMBERS of Chippenham Tri were out in force at the national relay competition in Nottingham recently.
In total, 12 Chippenham triathletes took on the 500m open water swim, followed by a 15k bike and a 5k run.
Peter Blake was sent out for the rough swim start for the Vets A team, followed by Stuart Dinwoodie, Richard Schofield and Chris Maxwell.
They finished sixth in their age category in 3 hours 25 minutes, just 14 minutes behind the victorious British Army team. They were also 20th overall out of 177 teams that entered.
Chippenham’s second Vets team of Michael Bright, James Hutchison, Paul Bacon and Michael Partner finished in 3:37 for 47th place overall, while a mixed team featuring newcomers Lucy Williams, Katherine Broomfield and Lisa and Mark Adams also produced a splendid performance on the day to beat 10 teams to the finish.
