FOUR members of Devizes Budo Club took part in the Scottish International Sportif event, held in Edinburgh.

Contested by 17 different countries and 500 judoka from all across the world, Devizes’ Benjamin Mersini won the gold medal in his age and weight group.

Archie Carter-Humphries added a silver medal while Lewis Mersini clinched a bronze medal and William Hickman was unplaced after losing out in a tough group.

The four judoka and coach Jason Parsons then took part in one-and-a-half days of intense training with senior Dan Grade coaches from around the world, including an 8th Dan black belt from the USA, with more than 100 players on the mat in each session.

The Devizes club also entered judoka into the British Schools Championships in Sheffield and returned home with success.

The medal winners were Max Major, who won the gold medal in his age and weight group, while silver medals went to Isabel McKay, Jack Raklander, Benjamin Mersini and England Squad member Jasmin Edwards.
