CHIPPENHAM are finally off the mark in National Three South West as they clinched their first league win of the season from a long trek to Ivybridge.
The visitors recovered from a horror start, in which they fell 12-0 behind and despite a late surge from the hosts.
Trailing to the early Ivybridge scores, Chippenham got their act together and a backs move teed up Brad Doggett to go in for the try.
A second try followed as Dominic MacKenzie, playing at full-back, crossed the line and Owen Waters added the conversion before adding a penalty to nudge the away side three points ahead by half time.
As the weather worsened in the second period, a decent period of play allowed Sam Saunders to crash over for Chippenham, Waters conversion making it a 10-point lead.
Ivybridge fought back ferociously, but Chippenham's defence held firm to record a welcome first win.
