DEVIZES Town’s winless run stretched to an eighth game as they were beaten narrowly on the road at Hengrove Athletic.
Luke Crewe got the only goal of the game three minutes before half-time as Hengrove avenged their defeat at Nursteed Road back in the first week of September - the last time Devizes tasted victory.
However, Darran Walters’ men can take plenty of positives from the contest at Norton Lane as they were more than a match for a Hengrove side who climbed to the top of the table on goal difference with victory.
They could have snatched a point in the second half but were denied by the woodwork as Brett Partner saw a fine effort tipped onto the crossbar by home keeper Tom Kington.
Devizes were bidding to end their lengthy search for a victory away at Warminster Town last night.
They are on the road again on Saturday and travel to Chard Town.
