CALNE Town were brushed aside by high-flying Ashton & Backwell United in their penultimate game of the season.
Lilywhites goalie Steve Allison was forced to palm away an early effort before Simon Gardner’s men threatened through manager-in-waiting Neurin Jones, who forced the Ashton keeper to tip away his chipped effort.
But Jason Radnedge fired the visitors ahead late in the first period before Miles Allen got in down the left flank and slotted home to double Ashton’s lead midway through the second period before Brendon Abood put the game to bed and killed off any chance of a Lilywhites comeback with 77 minutes on the clock.
Tom Boakes did draw a save from the Ashton goalie whilst Jones hit the post after getting on the end of Clive McDaid’s free-kick.
But Calne ended the afternoon with ten men after McDaid was shown a second booking in the final minute of the game.
The Lilywhites' final outing of the season is a county derby against Warminster Town at Bremhill View on Wednesday, April 22.
