MARK Robinson scored his second hat-trick in as many games to guide Chippenham Park to a 4-1 win over local rivals Calne Town last night.

Will Giles added the fourth for the visitors but they could not keep a clean sheet as the defence switched off late on to a long ball over the top and the hosts were able to score past Joe King, who had had a fairly quiet evening.

Robinson now has 19 goals for the season, after also putting three past Cheddar last weekend, and is attracting interest from other clubs says manager Dave Ferris but he hopes that the forward will be able to fire them up the league in their push to the end of the season.

“Mark knows himself that his goals are vitally important to us,” said Hardenhuish Park.

“We have had a couple of clubs sniffing around Mark and I can understand that but we are very happy that Mark is with us.

“It is up to us a club to keep Mark happy and enjoying his football, and what player who has scored six goals in two games is not enjoying their football?

“We do have other players that are chipping in with the goals but when you have a talent like Mark you want to keep him for as long as you can.

“At the end of the day everyone loves a local derby but sometimes they can be a bit of a disappointment.

“Last night both sides went out and approached the game in the right way and in the end it was a comfortable victory for us.

“A special mention goes to Will Giles who got the goal that he deserved from his all round play during the game.”

Chippenham were lifted to eighth place in the league after their win and now prepare to travel to bottom-of-the-league Portishead on Saturday looking to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games.
