CHIPPENHAM roared back from their Christmas break to register their 15th straight win in South West One East as bottom side Bletchley were put to the sword.

The home side blasted through the 500 points barrier – Sam Saunders contributing more than 100 – while Towcestrians’ defeat at Leighton Buzzard allowed the Allington Field men to open up a 14-point lead at the top of the table.

Chippenham are one of only two teams in England at level six to remain unbeaten and had wrapped up the bonus point well before half time.

In a match well refereed by Somerset 18 year old Max Weston, Chippenham’s Jimmy Owen, Andy Rossiter, Alex Cox and the returning Aaron Clark punched holes in the defence and Lewis Surry’s dart created space for Aminiasi Titoko to crash through and score the first try.

An impressive lineout rumble from 35 metres brought the second score, Alex Cox finishing off the move.

The forwards got in on the action and Luke Corbett bashed over for the third try, Saunders converting.

Chippenham kept up the tempo and retained the ball with a maul, which saw Ben Riley break off, find Aaron Ascott and Surry went over for the bonus-point try.

From the restart, Nick Aston took the ball at pace and the ball was spread wide for Ryan Surry to score, converted by Saunders.

Owen was unlucky not to reach the try line before being bundled into touch but wasn’t to be denied and forced his way over for his first try for the club soon after.

Saunders added the extras before an impressive first half concluded with the dynamic Dom Riccio taking the ball on halfway and a series of side steps and dummies took him over the line.

The scoring resumed after half time as Clark set up Rossiter for a score Saunders converted. From an attacking scrum, Bobby Lyons’ superb offload sent Lewis Surry in for a converted score before Stephen Barber touched down.

Clilverd’s over-the-shoulder pass sent Lewis Surry in for his hat-trick before Titoko added a converted score to wrap it up.
