THERE was no Boxing Day cheer for Chippenham Town as they slipped to their third defeat in a row at Paulton Rovers this afternoon.
Mark Collier’s men, who had Iain Harvey sent off in the second half, were beaten 2-1 in Somerset and have now gone eight matches without a victory in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division.
Former Bluebirds winger Jon Davies got one over on his former club as he put Paulton ahead early in the second period before Scott Wilson made it 2-0 from the penalty spot with 57 minutes gone.
Two minutes later, Michael Pook reduced the deficit with his first Chippenham goal but it wasn’t enough to prevent Chippenham returning to Wiltshire with nothing to show for their efforts.
Collier’s side will go looking to bounce back when they host local rivals Frome Town on New Year’s Day.
Adrian Foster’s Robins suffered a 1-0 defeat to top-of-the-table Poole Town this afternoon, with the visitors’ Steve Devlin grabbing the winner.
