FLOODLIGHT failure helped Devizes Town avoid defeat at Cheddar as their weekend contest was called off early in the second half.
Goals from Jamie Howson and Sam Jones put Cheddar in control at half-time but Devizes were able to escape Bowdens Park unscathed after several floodlights went out during the interval.
Devizes joint manager Justin Webster said: “Cheddar were obviously keen to play on but no matter what the score was the ref had made his decision that the game couldn’t continue.
“We will live to fight another day. We’ll go down there again with a blank sheet and try to do better.”
Devizes hope to reschedule the game towards the end of the season. Next, they host Calne Town on Boxing Day.
