MALMESBURY Victoria manager Wayne Kibble is thrilled to see his whole club working in unison this season.

The Vics’ notched up their biggest win of their Wiltshire League campaign so far as they hammered Sarum Youth 8-0 last weekend, with Kibble’s side currently fifth in the table.

And the Malmesbury boss thinks that the early-season success his team of local players are enjoying is also having a positive effect on the club’s reserve side, who are now plying their trade in the Cirencester & District League.

“Before, we used to have a first team made up of Swindon players and a reserve side made of the local players. As you can imagine, that caused a bit of a divide,” said Kibble.

“But now they’re all local lads and it’s nice to see everyone working together, which we haven’t had in a few years.

“The cricket season and all of the holidays have finished now, so we’ve got our full-strength squad back.

“The reserve players and the U18s that have come in to the first team have been fantastic but getting those players back means that they’re also getting stronger.”

Sam Parker netted a hat-trick against Sarum on his first start of the season whilst Ed Wilkins and Alan Webb bothy netted braces, with Sam Jenner also on target.

Elsewhere, top-of-the-table Devizes Town Reserves won 3-2 at Shrewton United whilst Wootton Bassett Town Development won 4-1 at Marlborough Town.

Wilts Calne Town notched up their first win of the season with an emphatic 6-0 win at Westbury United Reserves whilst Corsham Town Reserves’ clash with Melksham Town Reserves last Friday evening was postponed.
