LUCKINGTON rider Rachael Tuck has qualified for the Horse of the Year Show in the Riding Horse Hack class.

Tuck gained her qualification on a wild card having taken third place at the SEIB Search for a Star qualifier at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre in Gloucestershire earlier this year.

She will ride her horse, Kilcahill Kylie (Mandy) at in October.

She said: “I am thrilled to have qualified as I wasn't expecting to even be placed at the qualifiers.

“Mandy hasn’t been ridden for over a month as she was having a break. So we have just over three weeks to do some serious work.’’

Tuck, who works as sales director for equestrian company, Snuggy Hoods, added: “I have worked at the Show for the past six years so am excited to be a competitor as well this year as a change.

“I will also be working so it will be a very hectic week and I am going to have to ask many favours from friends and family to help but we'll definitely make it happen.’’

The pair have also showjumped up to 1.05m, evented up to British Eventing BE100 level as well as qualifying for the Riding Club National Championships two years running in show jumping.

The duo will compete at The South Essex Insurance Brokers Search for a Star Championship finals at the Horse of the Year Show, which runs from October 8-12 at the NEC in Birmingham.
