DEVIZES judo ace Jemima Duxberry is hoping local businesses will help fund her bid to reach this year’s World Junior Championships in Miami.
The 19-year-old Great Britain international is aiming to raise around £4000 by May 30 to fund her second-ever World Championships campaign.
Duxberry, who trains at the University of Bath, spent half a year out of competition after injuring her shoulder during her World Junior Championships debut in Slovenia last year but was back with a bang earlier this month with a European Junior Cup gold medal in Greece.
And the Devizes player is inviting donations through her Pledgesports.org fundraising page as she aims to make it to Miami.
“I’m looking to try and get some local businesses on board to try and help fund things – I’m going to be self-funding for a few events that will help me qualify for Miami and there’s a lot to pay for,” said Duxberry.
“If I could get some local businesses on board, then that would be fantastic, but if people want to donate £5 or £10, they can do that on my page too.
“I know a few other athletes that have raised money through Pledgesports and I’ve also been lucky enough to have a couple of guys that have donated £500 – hopefully people are interested in getting involved.”
