MARK Collier reckons that his Chippenham Town side shrugged off their 'soft touch' tag as they fought back from two goals down to wrestle back a point at Biggleswade Town yesterday.

The Bluebirds found themselves in a perilous position as they trailed 3-1 at half-time but a stirring second half comeback saw Collier's men snatch a share of the spoils.

"It's obviously a good point after being 3-1 down at half-time," said the Chippenham chief.

"This side has had a reputation of folding in the past so it was nice to see a bit of character and a good performance in the second half.

"It was definitely a deserved draw and four points from two games in the league is a good return - they've got themselves heading in the right direction."

A number of Collier's new signings were invovled at Biggleswade and Collier was pleased with the contribution of his recent recruits.

He said: "The young lad Tyron Leigh played well at centre-half but Shane Blackmore had to come off in the first half, which didn't help.

"Jon Beeden started at left-back but finished the game in the centre of defence and Rob Dean came on at half-time for Harley Purnell - he adds a bit of solidarity in the middle with his height and presence.

"We've signed Pete Monks from Weston-super-Mare but he couldn't play yesterday due to a registration hold-up and Corey King wasn't available but he'll come back into the reckoning for Tuesday's game (at home to Truro City).

"We're working within the budget and as it stands, Darren Jefferies is the only player that's gone out since I've been here. We'd still like to add one or two more if we can so we'll see what comes of that."
