Plans are being drawn up by the Gazette & Herald charity Bag4Sport Foundation to hold a Santa fun run in Devizes at the beginning of December.

The charity hopes hundreds of people of all ages will dress in Santa hats or full costumes to run 5k around the town.

Full details are expected to be released soon.

Bag4Sport director Andy Trusler said: “This should be a really fun event for all the family and should make quite a spectacle.

“We hope the whole community will become involved. We hope it will become an annual event and turn into one of our biggest fundraisers.”

Tickets are on sale for a cabaret evening at The Bear on October 12 which will feature Elvis impersonator Garry J Foley and magician Mark Pearce.

Just over a week later on October 20 Bag4Sport will be involved in the Devizes Half Marathon which this year is being held in support of the Foundation.

Money raised from all these events will help provide grants for grass root sports and the Gazette Stars of Tomorrow winners.

Gazette & Herald readers will have a chance to vote for their favourites for this contest in coming weeks.

Shortlisted candidates from each of the Gazette edition areas will be featured after judges, including Devizes MP Claire Perry and Devizes mayor Pete Smith, have met at the end of the month to whittle down numbers.
