NOTHING could separate Wiltshire and Devon in their opening Inter-Counties Team Championship clash at South West Week at Dudsbury Golf Club near Bournemouth yesterday.

Wiltshire, looking to win back the title they won in 2011, were tied at 4-4 after the morning singles, with wins for Ali James (Cumberwell Park), Josh Loughrey (Wrag Barn), Garry Slade (Bowood) and Chris Stewart (Broome Manor).

The afternoon foursomes were also shared 3-3, with wins for Ben Amor (Marlborough) and Robbie Busher (Salisbury & South Wilts) and Slade and Jack Charman (North Wilts).

Wiltshire were facing Somerset today, with the qualifier for the English county finals, which Wiltshire have won for the last two years, taking place tomorrow along with the South West Amateur Championship, won last year by the county's Ben Loughrey (Wrag Barn).
