CHIPPENHAM Town defender Tyrone Mings is set to complete a shock move to Ipswich Town later this afternoon.
The Championship club announced they have agreed a deal to sign the young full-back on their official website this morning and the 19-year-old is currently in Suffolk ahead of final talks with Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy.
Mings, who can play at left-back or centre-half, joined the Bluebirds from Yate Town in September and the Tractor Boys have revealed that he impressed in a behind-closed-doors friendly against the Nike Academy on Monday.
However, Chippenham manager Nathan Rudge claimed to have no knowledge of the deal this morning and said: "I've had a lot of phone calls about Tyrone but I really don't know anything about it yet.
"I deal with everything at the club so me or the football club can't really comment."
The 6ft 3in 19-year-old began his career alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Southampton youth team, before moving into non-League with Yate Town.
At Chippenham, he has played alongside Toby Osman, the son of Ipswich Town legend Russell Osman.
