CHIPPENHAM signed off at home in National Three South West for 2012 in style as they romped to a 10-try success over struggling Malvern at Allington Field – their highest league score for two seasons.
The home side, led by man of the match John Boddington, were quickly into their stride three minutes in as scrum-half Lewis Surry jinked through for the opening try, Sam Saunders converting.
Surry’s brother Ryan crossed four minutes later, Saunders again converting before hooker John Turner scored after a lineout, Saunders with the extras.
Malvern hit back with an unconverted try, but the Surry brothers domination of the match continued as Ryan added his second try on the 20-minute mark.
With the forwards dominant, giant second row Sam Hill powered over for try number five before Lewis Surry jinked through for his second, Saunders converting for a 38-5 interval lead.
Gary Champion was first off the mark in the second period, Saunders converting before running in his own try, which he again converted.
On the hour mark, Ryan Surry completed his hat-trick, quickly followed by a score for forward Fraser Clilverd, Saunders adding the extras.
As the home side relaxed, Malvern hit back with three tries to earn themselves a bonus point.
