A GROUP of runners from Malmesbury are challenging themselves this month as they take part in the charity event runVEMBER.

The Abbey Flyers Running Group will be put through their paces as they run at least a mile a day, every day in November, raising money and awareness for homelessness in Swindon.

The 22 runners taking part will run at least one mile each day in all weathers.

Although they have done running streaks like this in the past, RunVEMBER has an extra element of commitment as it is for charity, and each runner must wear their number every time they go out to raise awareness.

They will each be making up two shoe boxes that will be given out to the homeless people of Swindon. One filled with essential items such as a rucksack, sleeping bag, underwear and toiletries

One of the Abbey Flyer Leaders, Kate Hazell, said: “Joining an event which will be physically challenging to ourselves, whilst actively supporting our local community is just the sort of crazy venture which the fun loving Flyers are up for.

“We are really looking forward to getting stuck in – and celebrating our success at the end of November!”
