MAGISTRATES remanded a man in custody after he breached bail conditions banning him from having unsupervised contact with children.

Kevin Cousins, 37, who works in a primary school, was on bail awaiting sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on two counts of sexual assault on a child of five and three of possessing indecent images of children.

But he appeared in the dock at the magistrates court on Monday where the bench heard police had been informed he had left his home in Forest Road Melksham and gone to holiday accommodation in Poole.

He was later arrested at his parents’ home.

Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, told the hearing the move had followed threatening comments on social media and damage to his car.

Defence solicitor Marc Glendenning said Cousins, who wept through the hearing, accepted he was in contact with children but that he had been confused about the conditions.

The bench ruled he should remain in custody until he is sentenced on March 1.
