A Hilmarton knitting group has unveiled a knitted pom-pom tree at the village Christmas Tree Festival.
The 4ft tree was created by the 25 members of Knitti-Natters. It is made largely of knitted pom-poms and was shown at the festival on Saturday.
Val Procter, one of the group’s founding members, said: “The tree went down very well. Loads of people turned up to the festival and they all seemed to enjoy the tree.
“Everyone wanted to give it a cuddle, especially the youngsters.” Knitti-Natters formed on the back of the Hilmarton knitted house, which was started in February by local residents and is still being added to at Calne Heritage Centre.
Such was its popularity that it has been toured around the county to various towns and villages, where hundreds of people have turned up to get a look.
Mrs Procter said: “We are always thinking of new ideas and the next thing we have got planned is a knitted grandfather clock.”
