IF you're of a certain age, chances are you'll remeber Birds Eye's classic Crispy Pancake flavours - a staple in British freezers for decades.

And fans can now enjoy a taste of nostalgia this Pancake Day, as Birds Eye brings back its iconic Crispy Pancakes, just in time for the occasion.

The brand’s popular minced beef and onion Crispy Pancakes have been given a modern makeover ready for their return to shelves on Shrove Tuesday (25 Feb), with an updated recipe.

An improved taste

Birds Eye last resurrected Crispy Pancakes in 2019, having launched three brand new flavours, but this year fans will be able to tuck into the old classic of minced beef and onion - a firm favourite among those of a certain age.

The latest recipe still features the same distinctive golden and crispy breadcrumb crust, and is filled with premium ingredients.

Anne-Marie Gayer, Senior Brand Manager at Birds Eye, said, “Judging by the response to the re-launch last year, Crispy Pancakes are as popular now as they were during the ‘70s, ‘80s and even early ‘90s.

“We received an overwhelming demand from shoppers to bring back the beef and onion flavour, so we have spent months improving the recipe, using premium ingredients for the coating and filling.

“We hope shoppers young and old can enjoy the delicious flavour of our Crispy Pancakes.”

Where can I buy them?

Birds Eye’s minced beef and onion Crispy Pancakes can be found in the frozen aisle at Asda from Pancake Day (25 Feb), and are priced at £1.95 for a box of four.

Pancake fans can also pick up some other popular flavours in the Birds Eye Crispy Pancake range, including mozzarella, tomato and mozzarella, and ham and mozzarella.

These can be found in the frozen ready meal aisle in supermarkets now, from £1.75.
