Martin Lewis tips on saving on stamps and prescriptions

Financial expert Martin was joined by co-host Angelica Bell sharing advice on a variety of topics from water rates to income tax.

The extended show also shared advice on making a saving on both postage stamps and prescriptions.

When it comes to saving on your postage you will need to be quick as on April 4 the prices will be going up.

If you can afford to, Martin’s advice is to stock up on your stamps for Christmas now. But if you do intend to buy stamps before the price increase, those stamps will need to be used by January 2023.

To use them after that date, you will need to swap them for a new barcoded version.

Martin says there are more than one million people overpaying for prescriptions in the UK and as of April 1, prescriptions will be rising to £9.35.

The first piece of advice is to visit the NHS Exemption Checker to see if you should be paying.

If you do have to pay and you get more than 12 prescriptions per year, it makes sense to get a prepay prescription certificate which costs £108, or 10 direct debit payments of £10.80.

That price may increase though so Martin advises getting started as soon as possible.
