MSPs have voted by 84 votes for, none against and 29 abstentions, in favour of a Scottish Government motion recognising the importance of international trade to the Scottish economy and the serious impact post-Brexit trading arrangements will have, noting the publication of Scottish Government policy on the issue and calling on the UK Government to engage with the Scottish Government and other devolved administrations “to deliver a modern, inclusive process drawing on international best practice that ensures the interests and priorities of all parts of the UK are properly represented, protected and promoted”.

A Conservative motion noting that international relations, including the regulation of international trade, are reserved and calling on all administrations to ensure Brexit is delivered compatibly with the UK’s devolution arrangements fell by 29 votes for to 84 against.
