Police were called to New Road in Bromham this evening after a mobile home was delivered.

The land, home to a Traveller family, has been subject to a number of unsuccesful planning applications in recent years and a temporary stop notice was issued last month.

Today (June 23) a lorry had blocked part of New Road as a static mobile home was delivered.

Councillor Laura Mayes said: “We are pushing for an injunction as it is clear the owners are ignoring our current enforcement action. There is total contempt for the legal process."

Cllr Nick Botterill, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Development Management and Strategic Planning said: “The arrival today of further residential units at the site is an escalation of the breach of planning control.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

"We have already taken enforcement action and served court papers on the owners of the site for not having complied with the enforcement notices.

"As a result of the escalation of the breach of planning control, we are now reviewing the next steps legally which can be taken to seek to resolve the situation as quickly as possible for residents.”

A police car arrived on scene shortly after 5.30pm.

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
