A man was taken to hospital with a head injury following a dispute with three men in a town centre street.

The victim received a head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening, on Friday night.

He was kept in the Great Western Hospital on Saturday for observation and treatment.

Police were alerted to the assault in Northampton Street after a number of 999 phone calls were received at around 11.30pm.

Duty Inspector Bill Giles, of Wiltshire Police, said: “One male was assaulted by three other males following a dispute at an address in Northampton Street, which has resulted in that male going to hospital for treatment for his injuries.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear as does the connection between the men.

But police believe there was a party at an address in Northampton Street.

Witnesses said there were ambulances and police on the road, which had been cordoned off. Three young men have been arrested following the incident.
