Swindon's TK Maxx store has won an award for collecting the most bags in the region for the retailer's GiveGet campaign in partnership with Cancer Research UK. The store collected 815 bags from customers, friends and family to help smash the £3 million target.

Store manager Kate O'Shea said: "We couldn't have done this without the help of our customers in and around Swindon, so we'd like to say a big thankyou to them for their support and unwanted clothing!"

GiveGet, the UK's largest and longest running charity clothing collection campaign has raised over £3.2 million for Cancer Research UK. Now in it's third year of a biennial campaign, GiveGet 2008 has beaten the previous record of £2.5 million in 2006 setting a new UK record for turning unwanted clothing and homeware into cash.

People across the country cleared out their bulging wardrobes and cupboards and brought them into TK Maxx stores. The items were then collected and delivered to CRUK stores to be sold to raise valuable funds that will be dedicated to work helping to beat childhood cancers.
