NEEDY people in Devizes have been given a boost thanks after the winner of a trolley dash in a draw decided to donate her prize to Devizes Foodbank.

On Sunday Alice Boyd and Soraya Pegden from fundraising group Omnes Ad Unum charged around the aisles of Morrisons in Devizes filling it with goods needed by the Foodbank.

They managed to bag goods valued at more than £200 that will be distributed by the charity which is houses at Devizes Hospital.

The draw was organised as part of a Christmas Tree Festival and Bazaar at St John's Church.

Mike Sanders from Omnes Ad Unum said: "Alice and Soraya, who organised the draw, were called in at the last minute to do the dash. They were delighted with what they achieved."

It is the second year running that the foodbank has benefitted from the trolley dash prize. Mr Sanders said: "A supporter of Omnes who won the trolley dash in December knew that in the previous year the winner had asked that the prize be awarded to the foodbank. They wanted the same outcome so they donated the prize back."

The next fundraising events is a recital on Sunday at 4pm at St John's with tickets from Devizes Books.
