Youth Action Wiltshire is delighted to announce that The Duchess of Cornwall will be guest of honour this month at a fundraising concert in aid of Youth Action Wiltshire.

The concert, Divine Music for Trumpets and Voices – the Life of George Frideric Handel, will take place in the chapel at Marlborough College on Friday October 25.

Supported by a cast of esteemed musicians and performers, the concert aims to raise around £15,000 for Youth Action Wiltshire’s work with young people in the county.

Camilla is patron of Community First Wiltshire, of which Youth Action Wiltshire forms part. She will meet with staff and trustees from the charity as well as Wiltshire young carers, sponsors and musicians.

The concert, hosted by the High Sheriff of Wiltshire William Wyldbore-Smith through the Community Foundation, will feature music and words celebrating the life of the prodigious composer and will include some of his most famous works.

Musicians include the Bath Philharmonia, The London Trumpet Choir and Bath Chamber Choir A Handful of Singers, with soloists David Blackadder (trumpet), soprano Ruby Hughes, countertenor Christopher Lowrey and bass George Humphreys.

The concert was conceived and written by David Blackadder and Benedict Hoffnung and will feature Benedict Hoffnung as conductor.

The part of Handel will be played by John Bromley Davenport QC, an accomplished orator. The High Sheriff of Wiltshire has been supporter of Youth Action Wiltshire since 1994 and is on the YAW committee.

He said he was pleased to welcome The Duchess of Cornwall as guest of honour at the concert.

“It is a great honour to have Her Royal Highness with us on this occasion. We are extremely grateful for her continued interest in and support for the charity and especially for her support for this fundraising event,” he said.

“A committee of trustees led by Ginnie Keen and James Layton, along with staff from Youth Action Wiltshire, the Community Foundation, and Kate Stephens and others at Marlborough College, have pulled out all the stops to get this event off the ground.

"We are also very grateful to Jonathan Leigh, the Master of Marlborough College, for allowing us to hold the concert in this wonderful chapel.

“Youth Action Wiltshire does inspiring work with young people in Wiltshire, particularly those who are finding it difficult to engage. Project Inspire, Wiltshire Young Carers and the other projects run by the charity all help young people to develop their confidence, to have more fulfilled lives and to achieve their potential.”
