I WAS delighted to invite the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Liz Truss, to visit Melksham company Quantum SFX as part of her tour of the South West to speak to owners and employees of businesses about their issues and needs prior to the budget and how we can continue to boost growth and jobs across Wiltshire.

Quantum SFX are a leading international pyrotechnics and special effects company and it was fantastic that they showcased some effects to the Minister - all of which had been designed and made in Melksham.

I have met Quantum SFX here in Melksham a number of times since being elected in 2015 and was delighted to give a Melksham business the opportunity to speak directly to a Treasury Minister. They are an innovative local job creator who wowed the children at the last Wiltshire Festival of Engineering that I arranged and a great example of some of the market-leading businesses we have here in Wiltshire.

Speeding and traffic volumes are problems which affect a number of communities across the constituency and something which I have worked closely with a number of groups on.

I met the local Community Speedwatch Group in Beanacre who raised concerns with me about the speed of traffic coming through their community and presented a range of solutions to the problem, which I will be presenting to Wiltshire Council to push for a resolution for all residents.

I was alarmed by some of the stories of dangerous driving and the impact on the village and its residents, so I will be working closely with Wiltshire Council in the coming months to ensure their concerns are heard.

I know the council appreciates their efforts and with the powerful combination of community, council and MP, I have no doubt that we will make a real difference on our roads and our communities.

If you are suffering from a similar issue in your road or local community please do get in touch with me and I would be only too happy to take this up on your behalf with the council.

To close off the week I held a very enjoyable drop-in session in Asda Melksham and managed to hear the thoughts and concerns of a lot of local residents.

I have a further 10 surgery dates in the diary between now and the end of the year with evening, daytime and weekend slots available, so if you would like to come and speak directly to me on any issue or ask me anything at all, then please do contact me on 01249 704465 or email michelle.donelan.mp@parliament.uk and I look forward to meeting you.
