Party-goers from Chippenham will be travelling back in time to the 80s this weekend in memory of a much-missed friend.

Sharon Harris and Tracey Firth, who both live in the town, will be turning the Neeld Hall into Goldiggers, the once-legendary nightclub based in Timber Street.

The pair, who will be hosting the disco to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, were inspired by the loss of friend Sean Maslin, who died in a gas explosion last year.

Mrs Harris said tickets have already sold out for the party, and thanked the managers of the Neeld Hall, who have allowed the event to be held there for free.

“We have already raised £1,750 after expenses, which is fantastic,” she said.

“A friend of ours, who used to go clubbing at Goldiggers with us, was killed in an explosion last year and that was our inspiration for it all. We wanted to raise some money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. You never know when you’re going to need it.”

The night will feature a former Goldiggers’ DJ on the decks.

Mrs Harris said: “It’s going to be a really top night.

“We’ve had a huge, fantastic response, and we’ve already sold out all 320 tickets. I think we could have sold them twice over.”

Although there are no longer any tickets for Saturday’s event, Mrs Harris said any further contributions to the air ambulance should be made via their website, www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk
