Following a spate of burglaries at garages and garden sheds in the Barton Park and Bath Road areas of Marlborough over a 24 hour period a large stash of stolen power tools and one bicycle was recovered from a ditch on the edge of town.

PCSO Jonathan Mills said a number of burglaries were reported on Wednesday last week where power tools and pedal cycles had been stolen.

He said: “These offences all occurred in the Barton Park, Bath Road area of Marlborough. Police have recovered a number of pedal cycles and power tools some of which have been returned to their rightful owners.

“There are a number of items that remain unclaimed and we would very much like for them to be returned to their rightful owners.“

PCSO Mills suggested that everyone living in the area including Barton Park, Bath Road and College Fields checked their sheds and garages to ensure nothing had been stolen and he requested that people living in that area or any other “be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity either persons or vehicles” by ringing the Wiltshire Police central call line 101. If a crime is seen to be in progress the number to call is 999.

PCSO Mills said that a haul of power tools and a bicycle was found in a ditch at the side of the A4 on the Manton edge of the town where presumably they had been left by the thief or thieves to be collected later.

Anyone who had tools or bicycles stolen can see if their goods are among the recovered haul at Marlborough police station in George Lane.
