Abbeyfield School has eclipsed its previous best set of results for students gaining five A* to C grades with an amazing 83 per cent, the previous best being 73 per cent.

It is the sixth consecutive year that Abbeyfield has achieved a record set of GCSE results with 66 per cent of all students achieving the government’s benchmark of five or more A* to C grades including English and maths Headteacher David Nicholson said he is delighted with the record results.

He said: “This shows that Abbeyfield School continues to prepare its young learners for the challenges of A-level and beyond.”

More than 80 per cent of students gained A* to C grades in subjects related to Abbeyfield’s business and enterprise specialism, with 100 per cent achieving a C or more for their IT GCSE.

Mr Nicholson said: “This is a wonderful outcome for these young people and for the staff that worked so tirelessly to support them through their GCSE courses.

“Parents will know that the school demands a great deal of teenagers and you don’t get results like this unless there is full support from everyone involved in the life of the youngster. The hard work and commitment of everyone in our vibrant school community has paid off.”
